A New Year

It’s hard to believe, but JumpRope is entering its seventh school year. And yes, there are several schools who have been using JumpRope (under its former name, Impact) continuously this entire time. Even more people are using JumpRope for the first time this year than ever before, as new schools and districts sign on and as many of our existing customers continue to grow their implementation.

My entire life, I’ve loved the energy this time of the year. As a student, the first day of school always brought new friends, new surroundings, and new clothes. As a teacher, it meant new ideas to improve my classroom, meeting new students, and greeting some of my favorite people after a summer apart. Now, working at JumpRope, it usually means a lot of time working directly in schools (as opposed to staring at a computer screen all day), excited teachers tackling a new challenge with new tools, and the gratification of seeing mature implementations conduct business as usual with a tool that has become central to their teaching and learning.

I’d like to take this opportunity to welcome the educators, students, and parents that are new to the JumpRope world and to welcome back those of you who are coming back for more. It is our commitment to provide a reliable and effective tool, as well as to support the technical and philosophical implementation wherever we find a return commitment to truly dive into the proficiency-, competency, and standards-based grading world. Whether you are brand new to JumpRope or a seasoned veteran, here are a few resources you may find helpful this time of the year:

  1. For those of you who use JumpRope District for the second or third year, here’s a handy 3-minute video tutorial explaining options to re-use curriculum (units, standards, and assessments) from the past.

  2. For district administrators who manage their standards bank, here’s an explanation of the various tools and functions at your disposal.

  3. For all school-based administrators, here are resources to help you take steps to get JumpRope set up for the new school year or term.

  4. For teachers new to the system who need a self-paced tutorial of JumpRope from start to finish, we have a brand new set of online, self-paced courses for both the School Edition and the District Edition that you can go through at any time.

  5. If you notice any problems with your class rosters or teaching schedule in general, this help document is a great place to start.

  6. In general, you may find our Help Center helpful to search for answers to specific questions.

  7. As always, you can reach out to our support team by logging in to JumpRope and accessing the Account & Support menu in the top right to send a ticket to a helpful support agent.

I’d also like to put in a plug that in addition to our software and online resources, JumpRope offers professional development and consulting services that your school or district can purchase. More than half of our team are educators, and most of us have years of experience implementing standards-based teaching and learning at the classroom and administrative level. I’ll leave you with two last thoughts. First, I wish you the very best as you dive into the new school year using JumpRope to collect data on student mastery and communicate feedback to students. Don’t hesitate to use the resources above if you need any help along the way! Finally, this is going to be a very exciting year at JumpRope for new features, products, and integrations. While I don’t have anything specific to announce just yet (September for us is about stability and prompt support), stay tuned for some very cool stuff coming down the pipeline.
